How much does tree felling cost?
Tree felling typically costs from £400 for a small domestic tree to £2,500+ for a large or technically difficult fell. Stump grinding and full site clearance are usually quoted separately.
Do I need permission to fell a tree?
Yes if the tree has a TPO, sits in a conservation area, or is over a certain size threshold. Trees in conservation areas require 6 weeks' written notice to the council. We handle the paperwork for you.
Can you fell trees in tight gardens?
Yes. Tight-access gardens are dismantled "sectionally" — branches and trunk sections are roped down piece by piece using rigging gear, never dropped. Same end result, zero damage to lawns or fences.
Will you grind the stump?
Yes — stump grinding is offered as an optional add-on. The grinder takes the trunk to 200–300mm below ground, ready for re-turfing or replanting.
Is the work fully insured?
Every fell is covered by £5m public liability and £10m employers' liability insurance. We can provide certificates on request.
How long does tree felling take?
A straightforward domestic fell with stump grinding usually takes one day. Large or sectional dismantles can extend to 2–3 days depending on access and traffic management requirements.
