Tree Felling in the West Midlands

Safe, controlled felling of dead, diseased or unwanted trees — including tight-access urban gardens and complex commercial sites.
TREE FELLING

What is Tree Felling?

When a tree must come down, the difference between safe and dangerous is in the planning. We assess the tree, the drop zone, overhead lines, structures and the public, then choose between straight felling, sectional dismantle or rigging-down. Our crews are NPTC chainsaw-certified (CS30/31/38/39) and the entire job is covered by £5m public liability insurance.

Tree Felling — your questions answered

How much does tree felling cost?

Tree felling typically costs from £400 for a small domestic tree to £2,500+ for a large or technically difficult fell. Stump grinding and full site clearance are usually quoted separately.

Do I need permission to fell a tree?

Yes if the tree has a TPO, sits in a conservation area, or is over a certain size threshold. Trees in conservation areas require 6 weeks' written notice to the council. We handle the paperwork for you.

Can you fell trees in tight gardens?

Yes. Tight-access gardens are dismantled "sectionally" — branches and trunk sections are roped down piece by piece using rigging gear, never dropped. Same end result, zero damage to lawns or fences.

Will you grind the stump?

Yes — stump grinding is offered as an optional add-on. The grinder takes the trunk to 200–300mm below ground, ready for re-turfing or replanting.

Is the work fully insured?

Every fell is covered by £5m public liability and £10m employers' liability insurance. We can provide certificates on request.

How long does tree felling take?

A straightforward domestic fell with stump grinding usually takes one day. Large or sectional dismantles can extend to 2–3 days depending on access and traffic management requirements.
