What's the difference between pruning and thinning?
Pruning is selective branch removal for health, structure or shape. Thinning removes interior branches to let air and light pass through the canopy without changing the tree's overall outline.
How much does tree pruning cost?
A typical garden tree pruning starts from £180 and rises with size and access. Most domestic jobs fall within £180–£500. We provide free written quotes after a site visit.
How often should a tree be pruned?
Most established trees benefit from a light prune every 3–5 years. Fruit trees often need annual attention; ornamental specimens vary by species.
Will pruning damage my tree?
Done correctly to BS 3998:2010 — no. We only remove dead, crossing, or weak limbs and never remove more than 25% of live canopy in a single visit.
Can you prune trees in conservation areas?
Yes — but conservation-area trees require 6 weeks' notice to the council. We handle the application paperwork as part of our service.
Do you tidy up afterwards?
Always. All brash is chipped, logs are cross-cut to your specified length (or removed), and the site is left cleaner than we found it.
